It’s just mass psychology, the herd instinct. Knowing the reason for mass behavior does not shed any light on individual choice and action.

Magic is not lost – everyone remembers what it was like before it was trained out of us. It is still there, waiting to be used. There is a considerable amount of retraining that is necessary – some of it physical, because we armor our bodies unconsciously, as a way to prevent the thoughts and impulses we were taught were bad. Feldenkrais and Reich discovered that learning to move freely is a crucial step to regaining our true potent-ial.
