I did not like that movie. It made my spirit feel sick. It was like fear porn. I think you need to rethink that statement. It makes you sound like you’re trying to make people feel guilty who don’t recognize or like the elements of that genre or because you do recognize it, you’re better than those who don’t. I’ve explained why I didn’t like it.

That is not necessarily good, not because the film world is imaginary, but because it is a world in which no action is possible. The ending of the film is always the same and we are powerless to change it. Imagination is then linked to non-action.

Each of us is made for action – I think that is why spirits, supposing they exist, envy the living – they can only dream, but we can both dream and give action to our dreams.

The trick, then, is to be able to suspend disbelief while not suspending action. Film cannot make that happen – it can stir something within, true, but no action is possible. Trying to act as if you lived in your favorite film is foolish, and accomplishes nothing except moving through your day in a dream-like state. You must be your own producer of your imagination in order for the trick to work.

At the time of it’s production, I rated the “Lost” television series above any other visual canopy I had ever witnessed prior. Its setting is where “social programing” or “order” had broken down. Humans were left to their own devices, what would they “imagine” in their efforts to re-civilise? How would they be controlled? Ultimately, who would win?

Not ever episode resonated, but it was one of the few series I have watched ever wanting more….

Best
